So, a little about myself. My name is Laura Stover and, as of 2025, I am 55 years old. I am retired/disabled so I have plenty of time to spend with God and be in the Word. I also have time to research and answer questions that people have. A small town in Michigan called Buchanan, is where I call home. I have two adult daughters, who are my world, and I live with my best friend. We have a small zoo, consisting of two cats, a dog and a bird. They are my fur babies and I love them dearly. Did I mention how spoiled they are? But what are they for if not to spoil?
The spark for this blog stemmed from helping my daughter a couple years ago with one of her college classes. We were writing these very big papers every week. As I read the assigned sections out of her textbook I became overwhelmed. I got the idea to rewrite her book in layperson terms. Something that everyone would understand without having to look in a dictionary or thesaurus for every other word. That, obviously, didn’t go anywhere. Then the Lord put this blog on my heart. I tried to ignore the constant bombarding of my mind because, to be honest, I had absolutely no idea what a blog was, let alone how to set up and write one. To say the least, He is VERY persistent. So, here I am, trying to be obedient and do this. Which isn’t all bad because it will definitely be good for me and if I can help just one other person then I have accomplished what I set out to do.
Have you ever been reading or looking at the Bible and just did not grasp what it was saying? If you have ever seen a Bible, I’m sure you have thought it. It can be very deflating and disheartening. Or have you ever wondered why people take communion or get baptized? Maybe you have no idea who Jesus is. Do you have questions about Him, His life or why people love and believe in Him. Do you believe or are you curious but don’t know where to go from there? Well, you are not alone! I have been there and so have countless other people. In this blog, I will share things that have confused me, things I couldn’t quite comprehend, or just plain didn’t understand. I will share stories, devotionals (which stems from the word devotion-related to or characterized by devotion. So pretty much, anything done out of devotion to the Lord- prayers, meditations, scripture readings or religious exercise’s, even journaling can be a devotional). Letters from the Holy Spirit by Loop (Gather Ministries), things that happen or I question during the day will be shared. And most importantly, answers to questions from all of you.
What I would like to do is answer questions that YOU have. Tell me a verse, passage, chapter or parable that you just don’t grasp. A “religious” act/ceremony you don’t understand. I will break it down and help you comprehend what it means or why it’s done. I am, by no means, an expert and I have not gone to Seminary. But I do know the Word, have countless books and resources to research and have plenty of time to find answers to your questions. My answers will be easy to understand. They will not be filled with a lot of theological “stuff” that many people just don’t get. Please feel free to ask me anything and I will do my best to make it clear. I will give scriptural backing for my answers where I can.
